Initiatives

The Leadership Classes teach students leadership principles through a unique blend of traditional classroom methods, project-based learning, and hands-on experiences.  

 

Leadership 1 introduces students to the foundations of leadership and focuses on skills needed to grow individually as a leader. 

 

Leadership 2 introduces students to the foundations of teamwork and focuses on skills needed to build and lead a team or organization.  

 

Leadership 3 introduces students to the foundations of real-world leadership and focuses on skills needed to succeed in life after high school. 

 

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program focused on impact through action. Leadership students who complete this unique web-based curriculum graduate as Chick-fil-A Leader Academy scholars. 

 

Viking Con is a one-day leadership conference that ignites enthusiasm and inspires action in student leaders from MGM’s sports teams, extracurricular clubs, and special programs. The event is organized and led by Leadership students.  

 

Peer Helpers is a Thriveway program that promotes mental health in schools. Leadership students who serve as Peer Helpers are trained in communication, problem solving, coping, and conflict resolution to serve as role models and mentors to classmates.  

 

Sink or Swim is a summer orientation program that transitions freshmen “swimmersinto high school and develops upperclassmen “lifeguards” through leadership roles.  

Upcoming Events

LIFESOUTH BLOOD DRIVE - FRIDAY, APRIL 26

The LifeSouth blood bus will be at MGM on Friday, April 26. You must be at least 16 years old and weight at least 110 pounds to be able to donate. If you will be 17 or older on April 26, you only have to complete the registration form to sign up. If you will be 16 on April 26, you have to complete the registration form AND come by room 404 to get a 16-year-old waiver to be signed by your parent or guardian. See Ms. Miller in room 404 for more information.
