Our Pre-K students enjoyed a festive Snoopy Thanksgiving feast while watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! It was such a fun treat, made possible with the help of our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism students in Mrs. Easterling's Culinary I class and our Fine Arts classes with Mrs. McNellage and Mrs. Watt.

Viking VALOR is our new initiative that highlights the qualities of Venture, Accountability, Leadership, Optimism, and Respect. These students were nominated by their teachers for exemplifying these core values each day. The MGM Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society (national) competed in the Rocket City Math League Interschool contest on November 19. Members enrolled in Algebra 1 honors up to AP Calculus worked as a team to complete 15 mathematic questions in increasing difficulty with a timeframe of 30 minutes without the use of calculators or any other math aids. 31 members competed in the competition.

Over the weekend at the Mobile Azalea Trail Maids Queen's Coronation, our Azalea Trail Maids received their dress colors. Taylor Killam will be wearing blue and Melody Van Hook will be wearing green. The emcee for the event with MGM Alumna Melissa Grimes Wilder. Melissa served as queen of the Azalea Trail Court for the 2002-2003 year. We were also represented by Agatha Carter Bryant. Agatha is also a MGM Alumna and will serve as president of the 26-27 Court. 🌸🧡💛💚🩵💜🩷 #26Trailing27

👟👞🥾👠Shoe Impressions 🥾👞👟👠
Students in Mrs. Touchstone's Forensic Science classes created their own shoe impressions and added a photo of their shoes to a class database. They put their forensic skills to the test by analyzing impressions from other classes to identify patterns and match characteristics to determine whos shoes matched! They did a wonderful job! However, they all learned that HEYDUDE are the HARDEST shoe impressions to match. 😂 #ForensicScience #VikingCSI

Our MGM Academy of Agribusiness is thinking a little outside of the box this week as they kick off their Landscape Design unit! Introductory activity with a little color theory… and a whole lot of creativity mixed in! These gorgeous poured-paint ornaments were their intro activity, helping students explore color blends, contrast, and harmony.

Extremely tough loss tonight in the 2nd round of the playoffs. We are incredibly proud of our Vikings for an outstanding season and the heart they showed every game. Congratulations to Gabriella Perkins! Gabriella is a dual enrollment student with Bishop State Community College and she recently earned the 1,000,000th credential issued by the NC3 - National Coalition of Certification Centers! 👏
Gabriella is studying Aviation Manufacturing at Faulkner Career Tech Center under the instruction of Dwayne Bowers, gaining hands-on training and industry credentials that are shaping her future in advanced manufacturing.

We are proud to announce that Mary G. Montgomery’s 2024-2025 state report card has increased by 4 points! This achievement reflects the dedication and perseverance of our incredible students and the tireless commitment of our faculty, staff, and community.

As we look ahead to 2025–2026, we challenge all Vikings to keep showing up, working hard, supporting one another, and striving for excellence. Every assignment completed, every assessment improved, and every act of leadership brings us one step closer to an even higher score.

Congratulations to Mrs. Hall. She was recently awarded the 2025 NREA Rural Teacher of the Year National Runner Up. Thank you to Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson for speaking to our Future Business Leaders of America (MGM FBLA ) students today in celebration of FBLA American Enterprise Day! American Enterprise Day, observed each year on November 15, celebrates the U.S. free enterprise system and the spirit of entrepreneurship. FBLA chapters across the nation recognize this day with activities that promote understanding of capitalism, entrepreneurship, and the importance of a free market economy. Commissioner Hudson met with students from Mary G. Montgomery High School’s FBLA chapter and sponsor Ms. Robinson to discuss Mobile County government and its vital role in recruiting economic development to our area. Our students asked thoughtful questions and remained engaged throughout the discussion — truly an inspiring group of future leaders!

Congratulations to Alex Rowe and Caden Lee for coming in 14th place for our team’s first Alabama Bass Nation High School Tournament at Lake Eufaula this past weekend! Please wish our whole team good luck and safe travels as we will be traveling back to Lake Eufaula on November 20th for our final Wiregrass Student Angler Trail tournament on November 22nd. Our Academy Ambassadors, along with Career Coach Mrs. Terra Price, attended the November Semmes Chamber of Commerce meeting. The guest speaker was Lt. Col. Robert “Frank” Barrow (Ret.), who shared inspiring stories about the importance of kindness and the many opportunities that come with dedication and service. Our JROTC cadets proudly presented the colors to open the meeting. It was especially meaningful to hear Lt. Col. Barrow’s experiences in the military just days after celebrating Veterans Day. Lt. Col. Barrow is also retired from MCPSS, most recently serving as the JROTC Commander. We are so proud to be part of such a supportive and connected community!

Our MGM Viking Battalion JROTC cadets proudly marched in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Mobile! Thank you to our cadets for showing their support and respect for our nation’s veterans. Veterans Day, observed each year on November 11, honors all U.S. military veterans who have served in the Armed Forces. The date marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918—originally celebrated as Armistice Day before becoming Veterans Day in 1954. We are proud of our cadets for representing MGM and honoring those who have served our country. 💙🖤🤍

MGM alumna Kaylei Touchtone was invited to attend the Manufacturing Meeting at the Mobile Chamber alongside Principal Mr. Diaz and Career Coach Mrs. Price. Kaylei represented Mary G. Montgomery High School and MCPSS exceptionally well as she spoke to industry partners about the value of offering opportunities to students and being actively involved in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. She also shared how her academy experience, job shadowing, and internship opportunities through MCPSS helped prepare her for success beyond high school.

Our sophomore and freshmen students had the chance to visit the University of South Alabama’s College of Engineering today for Discovering Engineering Day! A big thank you to USA’s College of Engineering for hosting such an engaging and educational event — our students came away informed, motivated and excited about their futures!

Students in our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Culinary I class recently learned the art of baking and decorating sugar cookies. They showcased their creativity by designing cookies to look like pumpkins and then shared their sweet treats with our Pre-K students on Halloween. The Culinary I students did an amazing job, and our little ones absolutely loved their delicious pumpkin cookies! 🎃🍪
