Our Pre-K students had a blast making King Cakes!
A huge thank you to our amazing students and teachers in the Fine Arts Department and our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism for making this special experience happen.

Our Pre-K friends started by carefully shaping the dough into a perfect circle. Then our high school students worked their magic and baked the cakes to perfection. And of course, the best part came next… icing and sprinkles!

Watching our Pre-K students decorate their King Cakes was pure joy—and judging by the smiles on their faces, they were incredibly yummy!

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month! 🎉
Throughout the next few weeks, we will be spotlighting our incredible CTE teachers, programs, and student organizations. With seven on-campus programs, our students have access to hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has officially declared February as CTE Month, recognizing the powerful impact of Career and Technical Education across our state. Career and Technical Education Month® is a national public awareness campaign hosted by ACTE and sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders, celebrating the achievements of CTE programs and highlighting their importance for students of all ages.

We’re proud to showcase the opportunities CTE provides and the success of our students!

Congratulations to Christian Andrews for being chosen as one of our January 2026 Employees of the Month. The Employee of the Month for January was based on their performance during their paid internship over the Christmas break. This recognition is selected by the instructor based on the feedback received from the jobsite supervisors.

Christian’s instructor, Mr. Davis said that “This young man was excited and engaged. The contractor had great reviews on this employee and even gave him a gift of tools with a pouch to hold them. He will be an asset to any company, glad he is a team player!”

Mrs. Hillier’s Hospitality and Tourism class recently competed in a Food Truck Competition, where students were challenged to design their own original food truck concept from the ground up. Each group created a 3D model of their food truck to showcase their brand vision, along with a full business plan that included menus, pricing, recipes, marketing slogans, and a custom logo.
Students worked collaboratively and put tremendous effort into bringing their ideas to life. Once all projects were completed, administrators and teachers had the tough job of voting on the most impressive food truck.
This project was an exciting opportunity for students to stretch their creativity, develop real-world hospitality skills, and experience the fun of building a business together.

History came to life in Mr. Bryan’s 10th grade Honors History class!
After completing their unit on The People of Kansas vs. John Brown, students participated in a mock trial representing the various groups involved in Bleeding Kansas. Each group researched their role, examined historical facts, and argued a guilty or not guilty plea based on their perspective.

The courtroom was filled with passion, critical thinking, and powerful arguments as students fully embraced their roles and responsibilities. What an incredible way to bring history off the page and into action!

Bleeding Kansas (1854-1861) refers to a period of violent conflict in the Kansas Territory over whether it should enter the Union as a free state or a slave state. John Brown was a radical abolitionist who believed slavery should be ended by any means necessary.
In 1856, Brown led the Pottawatomie Creek massacre, killing five pro-slavery settlers—an act that deeply divided public opinion.

Our Pre-K students enjoyed a fun and creative art lesson last week with Mrs. McNellage and our art students! They began by reading Sneezy the Snowman, then brought the story to life by creating their own artwork while practicing counting skills inspired by Sneezy.
