November 5 at the Veteran's Day Assembly, we conducted an awards and promotion and recognition ceremony for our MGM JROTC Cadets. We had several cadets receive promotions and they received their new cords and pins with the help of Assistant Principal, Ms. Box. Our Freshmen cadets that participated in the LET 1 Drill Competition and took 3rd place received drill shoulder cords and arc pins for their dress uniforms.

Our Academy of Biomedical Science students visited The University of Alabama this past Friday for an exciting day of career exploration and learning about future opportunities in healthcare. Students explored Denny Chimes on the Quad, the Student Recreation Center, the Capstone College of Nursing, and enjoyed lunch at Lakeside Dining Hall. A special highlight of the day was visiting the Capstone College of Nursing, led by MGM alumnus Dr. Julie Tanner Sanford, Dean of the college! Students had the opportunity to see the impressive simulation mannequins and hands-on training facilities that nursing students use as they prepare for their professional careers. Experiences like this help our Vikings connect classroom learning to real-world careers and inspire their next steps after high school.

Veterans Day, observed each year on November 11, marks the anniversary of the end of World War I in 1918. It’s a day to honor all men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces — past and present — for their courage and commitment. A special thank you to the MGM Band, MGM Choir, JROTC, BSU, Multicultural Club, FBLA, Rho Kappa, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Creative Writing, and many others who helped make today’s program so meaningful. Viking Donation Drive “Shielding our Animals” for our Local Animal Shelters, taking place October 27 – November 7 🐶🐱
Our goal is to Support the shelters in our community that care for animals in need. The project focuses on responsible pet ownership, compassion and care towards animals. The objective is to raise awareness within our school and our community.
The two shelters receiving the donations will be the SPCA and Mobile County Animal Shelter.
We’re collecting pet food, blankets, cleaning supplies, collars, leashes and toys to help make their work a little easier.
This event is being sponsored by Key Club, Wrestling team, The Art Club

Our last two days of mock interviews have been filled with excitement and growth!
We wrapped up an incredible week with nearly 350 students completing interviews—many for the very first time. Throughout the process, students gained valuable experience, learned important lessons, and showcased their confidence and professionalism.

A huge thank you to the 35+ volunteers who dedicated their time and expertise to help prepare our students for future career opportunities. Your commitment, guidance, and support make a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful for all you do for our school and students.

This week’s activity focused on one of the students’ all-time favorites in Mrs. Touchstones Forensic Science class— learning the proper process for collecting, packaging, and documenting evidence. Forensic Science students did an incredible job investigating the case, carefully gathering and analyzing evidence to determine where Mr. Higginbotham met his demise.👏💀 #ForensicScience #VikingForensics #SkolVikes #HandsOnLearning

Our MGM JROTC cadets recently participated in a Raider competition held in Ocean Springs, MS. Congratulations to our students on a job well done.

MGM Multicultural Club members volunteered at the annual Greek Fest recently. Students had a great time helping out with various festival activities while experiencing the rich culture, traditions, and food that make this event so special. Opportunities like this allow our students to step outside the classroom, connect with people from different backgrounds, and gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures that surround them. It’s important that our students learn about their community and recognize the valuable role they can play in making a difference every day.
