Recently, Senior Brodie McNair completed a job shadow opportunity with Sheriff Paul Burch. This was an opportunity to shadow an elected official for the day. During the day he was also able to meet K9 Estie and learn how she helps keep the city safe.

Congratulations to Ryan Herzberg. Ryan was chosen as one of Academy of Craft Training November 2025 Employees of the Month. The Employee of the Month for this month was based on their performance during their paid internship over the Thanksgiving break. This recognition is selected by the instructor based on the feedback received from the jobsite supervisors.
Ryan’s instructor, Mr. Beaver said that “This employee has been a stand-out worker, throughout the school year. He received high praise from his supervisor during the Thanksgiving internship. He has proven to be a hard worker that hasn't missed a day this year. He represents our motto "Right Time, Right Gear, Right Attitude" and would make an excellent addition to any construction team. That is why he is my Employee of the Month for November 2025.”
Great job Ryan!

Check out the latest Holiday spirit collection by our students in our Academy of Agri-Science. Our holiday spirit looks a little extra AG-mazing this year 🎄✨
Students showcased their creativity and pride by decorating two Christmas trees for the holidays, each with its own special story:
✈️ Mobile Regional Airport Tree
Welcoming travelers with a warm touch of Americana charm, this tree is wrapped in student-made garland, vintage-inspired ornaments, and homegrown details.
Whether you’re flying home or flying out, we hope this tree reminds you of the heart and hands behind agricultural education—and the traditions we build one project at a time.
🌲 Outdoor Viking Pride Tree at Semmes Honor Park
Back home at the City of Semmes Honor Park, our outdoor tree stands tall, showing off our Viking pride while highlighting one of our favorite places on campus—the greenhouse. From handcrafted decor to colors that represent who we are, this tree is our invitation for the community to stop by, celebrate with us, and remember that growth happens here—year-round.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our programs, our students’ work, and a little holiday joy with our community. 💛💙
Here’s to a season full of creativity, hard work, and light.

Students in Mrs. Touchstone’s Forensic Science classes recently studied blood typing as part of their curriculum. Blood typing plays an important role in forensic investigations by helping narrow down suspects and supporting other pieces of evidence.
Our students experienced what it’s like to work in a serology lab as they tested blood types firsthand. They didn’t just learn about agglutination (clumping)—they actually got to see it happen. Watching their understanding deepen as the “how and why” clicked was the best part of the day!

Key Club hosted a lunchtime fundraiser recently, and the mission was simple, tape Coach Long to the wall.
Students bought strips of tape for $1 and while Coach Long didn’t quite stick, they did stick to the real goal, raising money for USA Children's and Women's Hospital.
Huge shoutout to Peyton Whatley, the biggest donor!

Today we had the exciting opportunity to surprise our 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Tracy Box! Mrs. Box was selected by her peers for this honor and is truly deserving. Congratulations on this amazing achievement! 🎉

Please help us in congratulating Ms. Box. She was selected as the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) Assistant Principal of the Year. Our Principal Mr. Diaz surprised her with the announcement today at a special assembly and pep rally in the school gym. Ms. Box is now eligible to apply for the National Assistant Principal of the Year Award. We are so proud of all your hard work and all you do for MGM. #PerseverancePropelsProgress #LearningLeading

Our Junior and Senior students are looking to connect with companies for job shadow opportunities in February. Today we will focus on the students looking into these STEM and Engineering career paths. If you know any companies that will allow our students the opportunity to visit for the day and learn, please leave a comment or email our Career Coach at tprice1@mcpss.com.

MGM PTO is raising money for one of our own. One of our teacher's tragically lost their home to a fire the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We here at MGM are a family and we support each other. Please help us to show her and her family our love and support. Students may bring in a monetary donation to their 1st period teacher this week.

On Thanksgiving day, our Azalea Trail Maids represented MGM and MCPSS by participating in the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade.

Our Pre-K students enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving lunch before the break! 🦃🍽️
They loved getting to share this special meal with family members and celebrate together. Moments like these make our school community feel even more like family!

Our Pre-K students enjoyed a festive Snoopy Thanksgiving feast while watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! It was such a fun treat, made possible with the help of our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism students in Mrs. Easterling's Culinary I class and our Fine Arts classes with Mrs. McNellage and Mrs. Watt.

👟👞🥾👠Shoe Impressions 🥾👞👟👠
Students in Mrs. Touchstone's Forensic Science classes created their own shoe impressions and added a photo of their shoes to a class database. They put their forensic skills to the test by analyzing impressions from other classes to identify patterns and match characteristics to determine whos shoes matched! They did a wonderful job! However, they all learned that HEYDUDE are the HARDEST shoe impressions to match. 😂 #ForensicScience #VikingCSI
