Mary G. Montgomery cheerleaders competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Regional Competition in Birmingham. This competition was the preliminary leading to the National High School Cheerleading Championships televised by ESPN and ESPN2 from the World Wide of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
The MGM cheerleaders were awarded third place at the Regional Competition and advanced to the national finals held February 11-12. MGM cheerleaders won the National Championship in the Non-Building Division in 1998, 1999, and 2000. They placed third in 2004 and 2007. The cheerleaders have high hopes of winning another national championship this year. MGM is extremely proud of our cheerleaders and the way they represent our community in this nationally-renowned event.
The MGM cheerleaders were runner-up Non-Building Champions at the Alabama High School Athletic Association's State Championship on November 19. The cheerleaders were also crowned champions at the Cheer for Hope in Mobile on November 5.
