Mrs. Wilson's Class
Mrs. Wilson's Class

To observe Constitution Day, Mrs. Wilson's class took a virtual field trip to the U. S. Senate.  The U. S. Senate historian spoke about the long standing traditions of the Senate.  Senator Ted Cruz of Texas was interviewed as the chairman of the Constitution Committee which is a sub-committee of the Judiciary committee.   He spoke about his background and why he became a Senator.   He explained his duties as chairman of the Constitution Committee and explained the focus of the committee is to look at how effectively we are protecting our constitutional rights.

Senator Blumenthal of Connecticut was also interviewed as the ranking minority member on the Constitution Committee.  When asked what he wants students to remember on Constitution Day, he said he wants young people to be grateful that we have our great Constitution to protect our rights and liberties like no other country in the world.  He went on to say it is our obligation, right and duty to protect those rights and each generation passes that on to the next to preserve our freedom.
